Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church

Founded on September 19, 1804, the church has three naves and was built using a combination of rammed earth and adobe masonry. In 1931, it underwent a neo-Gothic architectural restoration; the tower was raised and topped with a pointed pyramidal spire, and pinnacles were added to the main facade. The original wooden roofs were also replaced with barrel vaults reinforced by reinforced concrete ribs, which are finished in gold. Inside the church is the polychrome sculpture of the Nazarene, a colonial-era image that leads the Holy Wednesday procession.
